A day at the beach is never boring! From sunbathing and swimming to building sand castles, there are so many things you can do at the beach. But without proper precautions, a perfect day could soon turn into a nightmare. If you are planning a day out in the sun, here’s a list of things to make your day perfect.
We do know that the sun emits UV rays that can do immense damage to your skin. But did you know that there are three main types of UV rays – UVA, UVB, and UVC. While UVC does not reach the earth because of the ozone layer, UVA and UVB penetrate the atmosphere and do considerable damage to the skin. While UVA causes the skin to wrinkle and age prematurely, UVB causes sunburn and is often associated with cancer. Use a sunscreen that protects the skin from both types of UV rays.
There can be nothing more refreshing than jumping into the ocean on a hot summer day. Surprisingly, after a few minutes of swimming, people end up feeling thirsty. Why do we feel dehydrated and parched when we’re surrounded by water? That’s because swimming is an exercise just like running or playing – we sweat a lot, but since we’re surrounded by water, we do not notice. You need water to replace the water lost through sweat. But as we have always been told, you mustn’t drink ocean water – it could make you sick!
A towel is the most basic thing that must be carried to the beach. You need it to dry off after a swim or lay on the sand. But rather than carrying any ordinary towel, how about carrying Turkish towels? Unlike an ordinary towel, they are made from 100% natural cotton, are super absorbent, and yet dry up quickly. They are lightweight and don’t take up much space. And for that extra layer of protection for children, carry kids’ hooded towels.
