Turkish towels look luxurious and last for a long time. But with a little care, you can make the most of your investment. Read on if you have recently purchased Turkish towels and need to know how to care for them.

Why Invest In Turkish Towels?

Turkish towels are ultra lightweight and dry quickly. These towels are super absorbent and perfect for the gym. Most towels weigh less than 300 grams, making them perfect for travel. You can carry them in your gym bag or at the beach. They are also versatile – you can wear them as a sling bag or wrap them as a sarong.

How To Care For Turkish Towels?

1.First Wash

Loopys Turkish towels are prewashed and need not be washed before using them for the first time. However, you can soak them in cold water to open up the long fibres and soften the towels for the first use. We recommend soaking the towel for at least 12 hours for best results. After the towel is soaked, wring it and hang it in a dry place.

2. Washing Turkish Towels Regularly

Turkish towels can be washed regularly in a washing machine in cold water on a gentle cycle. But remember to wash the towel with similar colours. You don’t need to wash them with hot water or an agitating wash setting. Don’t use detergents with harsh chemicals – over time, the chemical buildup makes the towels hard and damages the fibres. And don’t add fabric softeners as well –the silicones and other chemicals on these softeners make the towels hard and less absorbent. You don’t have to dry them in a dryer either – hanging them in a shady place with little or low heat is best for your towels. Or, if you cannot use a dryer, wring them and hang them regularly.

3. Caring For The Towels

Caring for the towels is equally easy. Ideally, the towels are sturdy because of the long fibres that Turkish cotton is famous for across the world. If the towel gets caught on something and a thread pulls out, simply cut off the hanging thread. Cutting off the hanging thread does not affect it in any way. Similarly, if one of the fringes comes off, simply divide the threads into two equal sections, twisting each section clockwise. Now twist both sections in a counter-clockwise motion. Soak the towel in a white vinegar solution or add it to the detergent compartment while washing clothes in the washing machine.
